“Dying; for a Smoke?” Phase II Mobile Tour, July 2003 – SEPTEMBER 2003

The “Dying for a smoke?” Phase II mobile tour is back on the streets letting people know the REALITY of tobacco use. We’ll be making our way to fairs, sporting events and any where else we think our voice can be heard. Check out some of the places we’ve already been.

Teens prepare to face off with other teams competing in the NBA�s Hoop-It-Up. Participants of Hoop-It-Up eagerly sign up to become members of REALITY Illinois so they can begin helping change the way tobacco is viewed in their communities. Miss Illinois Teen National American Miss 2003, a member of REALITY Illinois, gives teens at Hoop-It-Up the royal treatment as she speaks to them about the “Dying; For a Smoke?” Phase II tour.

“Dying for a Smoke?” Phase II Mobile Tour, July 2003 – September 2003

The “Dying for a smoke?” Phase II mobile tour is back on the streets letting people know the REALITY of tobacco use. We’ll be making our way to fairs, sporting events and any where else we think our voice can heard. Check out some of the places we’ve already been.

Two teens join the thousands of other Illinois teens in the fight against big tobacco. Teens sign up to join the REALITY Illinois movement and receive additional information to share with their friends that didn�t attend the fair. The opportunity for teens to get their souvenir picture taken in a mock casket entices them to learn about the “Dying for a smoke?” Phase II tour and the fight against big tobacco.
These teens realize that becoming a member of REALITY Illinois is a great start to combating tobacco use in their community. The “Dying for a smoke?” Phase II tour sparked teens interest and started conversations about tobacco use and how to combat it in their community. Teens who refused to be targeted by big tobacco joined the REALITY Illinois movement.
Teens attending the All-Star Classic in Chicago learn more about the health effects of tobacco use and receive a copy of the Sample REALITY CD. Teens were eager to join the fight against tobacco after learning that major tobacco companies spend over $6.7 billion a year on advertising to reach them.

The “Dying for a Smoke?” Phase II Tour swung by Naperville´s Ribfest. New members pose to have their photos taken. Anxious to learn how to combat tobacco in their communities, teens attending Arlington Heights Frontier Days become REALITY Illinois members. Teens at Chicago´s Washington Park were eager to join the fight against big tobacco after learning that nearly a third of their peers smoke.
At the African-Caribbean Festival of Life, teens learn how to take a stand against big tobacco by joining the REALITY Illinois movement.

“Dying for a Smoke?” Phase I Mobile Tour, 3/7/2003 5/4/2003

The REALITY Illinois “Dying for a Smoke?” Mobile Tour launched in Springfield on March 8th and will travel throughout the state for nine weeks, making stops at sporting events, malls and other venues. Check out some photos from recent stops.
